Begin your exploration of Bab Zwayla, an ancient gateway in Cairo. As you step outside, take note of the magnificent Al-Saleh Talai’e mosque nearby. Don’t miss the opportunity to ascend the stairs and reach the summit for an awe-inspiring panoramic view of Cairo’s diverse array of minarets. The mosque of Sultan Al-Mo’ayyad, which is located adjacent to Bab Zwayla, is a one-of-a-kind structure that originated in the 10th century. You can take a stroll through the cloth market close to Ghouri Street and have the opportunity to buy clothes made of cotton.
Afterwards, you can enter the compound of Sultan Al Ghouri, which is conveniently located near Al Azhar mosque. On the opposite side of the street, you will be able to spot the remarkable complex of Al Mu’ezz showcasing ancient Islamic architectural marvels dating back to the 13th–15th centuries. You can also explore the Qalawoun complex from the time of the Mamluks while taking a walking tour through the Copper, Silver, and gold shops in Cairo. Furthermore, you have the opportunity to visit an old Islamic house that belongs to Souhaimy. This house used to serve as the official lodging for up to 200 students at Al Azhar School. After visiting Khan el Khalili, you will be taken to Bab El Futuh, another historic gate in old Cairo, where you can capture some photos and admire the beautiful scenery from the Palace of Bishtack and the Souhaimy house. To complete your experience, you can relax at Al Feshawy Café, located in the heart of Khan el Khalili.
