Experience a day excursion to the elevated Temple of Kom Ombo, which offers stunning views of the majestic Nile River.
This temple stands out from others due to its unique feature of having two entrances, each dedicated to different deities. One entrance is devoted to “Haroeris,” represented by a falcon head, while the other is dedicated to “Sobek,” depicted with a crocodile head.
The construction of the Temple of Kom Ombo was done to pay tribute to two gods: Sobek, who had the head of a crocodile and was associated with fertility and creation, and Haroeris, also known as Horus, an ancient god depicted as a falcon.
You have the option to have lunch at a nearby restaurant. Afterwards, you will be taken by road to Edfu to see the impressive temple dedicated to Horus. This temple is widely regarded as the best-preserved cult temple in Egypt. As per Egyptian mythology, this location is believed to be where the god Horus, with a head resembling a falcon, sought revenge for his father Osiris’ murder by slaying Seth.
