The trip to Alexandria will begin by exploring the Catacombs of Kom El Shoqafa, a vast Roman cemetery with three levels skillfully carved into the rock. Afterward, take a drive to the Roman Amphitheater, which boasts a remarkable display of submerged monuments found beneath the East Harbor of Alexandria. Be sure to stop by Pompey’s Pillar for a photo opportunity. This ancient structure was created in tribute to Emperor Diocletian towards the end of the 4th century.
The subsequent destination on the itinerary is the library located in Alexandria, which happens to be the largest library globally. At present, it boasts of having eight million volumes of books. While there, you can explore its open court, where you’ll come across statues of Alexander the Great and Ptolemy I. The latter was discovered submerged in water close by.
You will tour three museums during your visit:
1: The Manuscripts Museum, which is well-known and located in the library.
2: the President Sadat Museum
3: Alexandria Museum.
The vehicle will transport you to the oldest church in Africa, St. Mark’s. During the trip with Egywonders, you will glimpse the historic downtown area and its architectural landmarks, featuring baroque styling and Italian and French-influenced structures.
On the other side is the corniche and the historic harbor, where you can observe the antiquated fishing vessels. Then, Take a drive to see Quaitbay Castle, which was erected on the location where the legendary Lighthouse of Alexandria once stood and is one of the seven wonders of the ancient world. Once inside, you will have the opportunity to explore all sections of the castle and also access the roof to marvel at an extensive view of the entire city.
Afterward, the automobile will transport you to the Montazah gardens. During the trip to Alexandria, you can make a brief pit stop at the King of Mango for a two-minute visit and enjoy fresh squeezed juices from the Alexandrian drive-thru. Upon your return, you will make a quick visit to the renowned Stanley Bridge, which serves as a significant symbol of contemporary Alexandria and was constructed by Alexander the Great. You will then enjoy a comfortable tour back to your hotel.
