Begin your overnight trip to Alexandria by being collected from your hotel and embarking on a trip to Alexandria. Upon arrival, your first stop will be the Catacombs of Kom El Shokafa, an expansive Roman Cemetery comprised of three levels carved into the rock. Following this, you will proceed to visit the Roman Amphitheater of Alexandria, where you can view the sunken monuments of Alexandria that were discovered beneath the East Harbor. During the tour, you will also pass by Pompay’s Pillar, an esteemed structure erected in tribute to Emperor Diocletian at the conclusion of the 4th century. Following that, explore the interior of the Quaitbay Citadel and capture exceptional photographs both indoors and outdoors of this historical landmark.
The next destination is the Library of Alexandria, which is renowned as the largest library globally, currently houses a collection of 8 million books. At the library’s open court, visitors can observe the impressive statues of Alexander the Great and Ptolemy the First, discovered in the nearby underwater area. Inside the library’s reading hall, you will have the opportunity to explore the impressive Saddat Museum and the captivating Alexandria Museum. You have the choice to have lunch at a contemporary seafood restaurant or at a well-known and longstanding eatery in Alexandria called Mohamed Ahmed’s. Afterward, a car will transport you to the church of St. Mark, the oldest church in Africa. Along the way, you will have the opportunity to observe the city’s historic downtown area and its architecture, which features elegant and elaborate baroque styles reminiscent of Italian and French influences. You can explore El Nabi Daniel Mosque, which some believe is associated with the burial place of Alexander the Great. After visiting the mosque, you can enjoy a comfortable trip back to your hotel.
Your Egywonders Tour guide will pick you up from your hotel to visit the Abbo Elabbas Mosque, which is the biggest and most captivating mosque in the city. Moreover, you will have the chance to observe a distinctive sight nearby – an old amusement park where kids have fun on classic rides and savor cotton candy.
On the opposite side lies the corniche and the ancient harbor, where one can witness the presence of old fishing boats, fishermen at work. Continue your exploration to catch a momentary view of the outer appearance of Quaitbay Castle, built on the same site as the ancient Lighthouse of Alexandria, which was once considered one of the world’s seven wonders. This captivating castle is a perfect location for capturing breathtaking photographs, followed by a visit inside the Citadel.
Afterwards, the vehicle will take you to the Montaza Gardens. During the journey, there will be a quick stop of around 2 minutes at the King of Mango, where you can enjoy a refreshing beverage from Alexandria’s drive-thru that offers freshly squeezed juices. Additionally, there is an opportunity to take a photo break at the memorial to the Unknown Soldier of Alexandria. As the night Trip to Alexandria continues, you will be able to admire the breathtaking coastline and various cityscapes while heading towards Montaza Palace and Gardens, approximately 25 km away. On your way back, you will have a chance to visit the famous Stanley Bridge, which is considered the current representation of modern Alexandria. Upon reaching Cairo, you will be transferred to your hotel in a car that is equipped with air conditioning for a comfortable overnight trip to Alexandria.
