Head to Edfu and witness the remarkable temple honoring Horus, which is widely recognized as Egypt’s best-preserved cult temple.
In ancient Egyptian folklore, this place marks the spot where Horus, a deity with the head of a falcon, sought vengeance for the murder of his father, Osiris, by slaying Seth.
Later, go and explore the Temple of Kom Ombo, which is located on a raised spot with a stunning vantage point over the Nile. What distinguishes this temple from others is its special characteristic of having two entrances, each dedicated to a different god. The first entrance celebrates “Haroeris,” depicted as having the head of a falcon, while the second entrance is devoted to “Sobek,” portrayed with the head of a crocodile.
The Kom Ombo Temple was built in honor of two gods: Sobek, who was depicted with a crocodile head and symbolized fertility and the creation of the world, and Haroeris, or ancient Horus, who had the head of a falcon. Furthermore, the importance of Kom Ombo can also be attributed to its extensive cultivation of sugar-cane.
