On the third day of Discover pharaohs’ top secrets package, You’ll have breakfast and begin your tour by visiting the Egyptian Museum. The museum showcases a vast collection of Egyptian art that spans over 5,000 years, with more than 250,000 pieces on display. Don’t miss the Tutankhamen room, where you can see precious treasures, jewelry, and gold that were found in his tomb over 3500 years after it was sealed. This discovery was made in 1920 during the excavation of his tomb.
The museum has a remarkable assortment of artifacts, including the fully preserved burials of Yuya and Thuya, Psusennes I, and the valuable treasures of Tanis. Among these treasures is the Narmer Palette, which commemorates the merging of Upper and Lower Egypt under a single ruler and is considered an invaluable artifact in the museum.
The museum contains impressive sculptures of the famous pharaohs Khufu, Khafre, and Menkaure, who were responsible for constructing the pyramids on the Giza plateau. In addition to that, this extraordinary museum is also home to a vast assortment of papyri, sarcophagi, jewelry, and other artifacts, making it truly one of a kind.
The Khufu Statue, also known as the Ivory Figurine of Khufu, is an ancient sculpture from Egypt. This small representation of Khufu sits in a seated position and is the only remaining three-dimensional portrayal of him that is mostly complete.
Next, make your way to the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization, the sole museum in Egypt that provides a comprehensive insight into the various historical eras of Egypt. With a collection of over 50,000 artifacts, it showcases the development of Egyptian civilization from ancient times to the contemporary era.
A must-visit area in the Egyptian Civilization Museum is the Royal Mummies Hall. Here, you can find a separate section where royal mummies discovered in different tombs are preserved. The room is carefully regulated in terms of climate, ensuring that the mummies are well taken care of. These mummies, which were mummified over 4000 years ago, include the Kings of Hatshepsut, Tuthmosis, and Ramses, and they are in good condition. These kings and queens have slender bodies, and the mummies may appear smaller and shorter in size compared to their original stature. Take your time to explore this room and observe the Pharaohs and queen resting peacefully in climate-controlled rooms far away from their original burial sites.
