At 23:00, our agent from Egywonders will collect you from your Aswan hotel so you can experience the remarkable artificial Solar Phenomenon at Abu Simbel.
The Holiest of the Holy, a small room housing four statues – Ptah, Amun-Ra, Ramesses, and Ra-Horakhty, experiences a rare occurrence twice every year. On October 22 and February 22, the rays of the sun perfectly align, illuminating the sanctum sanctorum.
The last three statues are illuminated by the sun, while the statue of Ptah, the god of darkness, remains in darkness. At the Temple, you can watch entertaining shows by Nubian and Egyptian folklore groups.
The Temples of Abu Simbel, known for their distinct architectural style, are regarded as the finest examples of ancient Egyptian art.
The temples represent the magnificence and splendor of the recently established Kingdom. In an effort to preserve them from potential damage caused by flooding, the Egyptian government and UNESCO joined forces to collaborate.
The Temple of Ramsses II was built to honor four universal gods, namely Ptah, Re-Her-Akhtey, Amun-Re, and also to commemorate Ramsses II.
The renowned Abu Simbel temple, known as the Sun Temple of Ramssess II, is accompanied by the Temple of Queen Nefertari, or Temple of Hathor, who was the wife of the Sun God. Symbolically, these two temples unite Ramsses II, Nefertari, Hathor, and the Sun God into one entity. After a day of exploration, you will be transported back to your hotel, carrying cherished memories that will last a lifetime.
