Visit Abydos, the ancient Egyptian city where it was believed that the god of the underworld, Lord Osiris, was buried. The temple, known as the Temple of Seti I, was constructed by King Seti I and finished by King Ramses II. Located in Sohag Government, about 420 km south of Cairo and 135 km from Luxor, the temple is famous for its well-preserved paintings of gods and pharaohs. Afterwards, continue your journey to Dandara to explore the Temple of Hathor, the goddess of love and joy. Dandara is situated to the north of Luxor. There is a widespread belief that the El Nabi Daniel Mosque is linked to Alexander the Great’s burial site. According to rumors, the mosque is said to house the remains of the highly respected scholar and renowned teacher, Prophet Daniel, as well as his associate Sidi Lokman el Hakim, who was famous for his religious narrative skills.
You have the option to take your lunch break at either a modern seafood restaurant or a famous and long-standing eatery in Alexandria named Mohamed Ahmed’s. This restaurant is highly favored by the Queen of Spain and many other well-known figures whenever they visit Alexandria.
You can continue your exploration by visiting Mansheya’s historic market district and observing the traditional women’s markets called zan’et etsetat. These markets are characterized by narrow and meandering streets. Additionally, in this area, there is a gold market where individuals buy their wedding and engagement jewelry.
Later, you will be transported by car to a captivating destination: the Abbo Elabbas Mosque, renowned as the most impressive and expansive mosque in the city. Later, the car will take you to Montaza Gardens. While on the way, there is a chance to make a quick optional stop for 2 minutes to taste the delightful freshly squeezed juices from the famous Mango King at Alexandrian’s drive-thru. Furthermore, you can also take a break to capture photos at the memorial dedicated to the Unknown Soldier of Alexandria.
As you make your way to Montaza Palace and Gardens, you will be astounded by the captivating views of the city and its remarkable shoreline. Please be aware that the Alexandria Library is not open on public holidays. Additionally, in order to access the reading area, it is necessary to obtain an additional ticket.
You will require comfortable, flat shoes (ideally with a covering) when visiting the Pyramids and Valley of the Kings. Don’t forget to also pack flip flops or sandals to wear on the Nile felucca or Nile Cruiser.
